Kolkata: An IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Gorakhpur carrying 185 passengers was grounded at Kolkata airport after its crew member found a bomb threat letter in the aircraft lavatory moments before its take-off. After security checks of the aircraft and luggage, the letter turned out to be a hoax as no explosive device was detected.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 4 pm, but it was stuck at the airport till late evening.
Airport officials said the handwritten note on a toilet paper stated that a bomb had been placed in the aircraft, triggering a security alert that continued till late evening. Authorities said they were also examining how the note was placed inside the aircraft. Passengers were asked to deboard the flight and were taken to a safe area inside the terminal.
