Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday urged BJP workers to give him all 30 seats of Haldia municipality in the upcoming civic polls and ensure that former CM Mamata Banerjee returns empty-handed. Addressing party workers at the foundation-laying ceremony for a new BJP office in Tamluk, Adhikari called on workers at all levels and said, “You must ensure that the opposition is reduced to zero in all 30 seats. Accusing the previous TMC govt of appeasement politics, Adhikari alleged that TMC had “no understanding of nationalism” and sought to turn the state into “greater Bangladesh”. “Everyone must remain united and vigilant so that ‘dimagi Naxals’, the ‘tukde-tukde gang’, those demanding ‘Azadi for Kashmir’, and cockroaches and bedbugs do not raise their heads and multiply,” he said. Mamata Banerjee must be forced to return with nothing but a begging bowl in her hands. Adhikari also urged party workers to remain united and work towards fulfilling the vision of PM Narendra Modi . The CM added the state govt would continue to work towards protecting nationalism, patriotism, Bengal’s rich cultural heritage and ‘sanatan’ traditions. Download the TOI App.
