Clouds in the Kolkata sky on Wednesday
Kolkata: Five IndiGo flights to and from Kolkata were cancelled on Wednesday due to severe weather conditions caused by cyclone ‘Arnab’. Because of the weather conditions over Bay of Bengal, kolkata-Port Blair flights had also taken longer routes over the past couple of days. Because of the severe weather, trains leaving or terminating at the Howrah railway station, mostly the south-bound trains, were also withdrawn.
Kolkata air traffic controllers helped reroute aircraft flying between South-East Asia and the Gulf and beyond to avoid the cyclone zone. Several domestic flights heading south were also rerouted via an area between Nagpur and Raipur. Flight operations at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Chennai airports were also affected.
