Kolkata: The state govt has decided to increase the monthly remuneration and allowances of more than 1 lakh employees and contractual staff, chief minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday. He also said that it would entail an additional annual expenditure of around Rs 390 crore.
“The remuneration of 20,343 primary-level para-teachers has been increased by Rs 5,000, from the existing Rs 11,941 to Rs 16,941 per month. The hike will be effective from Nov 1. At the upper-primary level, 21,849 para-teachers will also receive a Rs 5,000 increase. Their remuneration will rise from Rs 15,523 to Rs 20,523 per month,” CM said. The Cabinet also approved a Rs 5,000 monthly increase in allowances for deputy rangers, foresters, head forest guards and forest guards from Oct 1. The remuneration of 1,500 forest assistants will rise by Rs 2,000 from the same date. The medical allowance for former MLAs has been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 a month with effect from Aug 1. MLAs running Seva Kendras named after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will receive Rs 30,000 a month towards their operation from June 1, the CM announced.
