Kolkata: The state govt is expecting investments worth over Rs 2,500 crore for infrastructure development in the tourism sector, said state tourism minister Shankar Ghosh on Friday. The tourism department is organising a tourism investors’ meet in Kolkata on Sept 27 where 25 investors, including some from neighbouring countries, will participate and announce their investment proposals, he added. Sept 27 is celebrated as World Tourism Day. About 25 investors who can invest over Rs 100 crore each are coming to participate in the investors’ meet,” Ghosh said.
“We want to develop the state’s tourism sector, with a dual focus: Bringing in more investment and generating jobs. We have already received several investment proposals for development in the tourism sector. This kind of investors’ meeting, exclusively for the tourism industry, hasn’t taken place earlier, the minister added.
