The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Kolkata: Voice of Abhaya–Voice of Women, a platform of 65 organisations, including Service Doctors’ Forum, Medical Service Centre and Nurses Unity, demanded a fresh probe into the RG Kar rape-murder on Saturday. The platform announced a protest march from RG Kar Medical College to Shyambazar on Nov 12.

Aniket Mahato, a prominent face of the RG Kar movement, said, “CBI was supposed to have submitted the supplementary charge sheet in 90 days but that has not happened till now. The organisations alleged that the CBI’s “failure” to submit a supplementary chargesheet had helped former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh secure bail in the financial irregularities case. Biplab Chanda, the platform’s secretary, said, “The main culprits are at large and many people have not been questioned till now. Mahato said they had earlier approached the CBI demanding the chargesheet and were planning another protest at its office.

He added, “We will continue our movement until we get justice for Abhaya. This is one of the factors why Sandip Ghosh was granted bail. “We request the new govt for justice for Abhaya. Download the TOI App.
