Undertrial prisoner Basudeb Naskar
When she visited the hospital again around 10.30 am on Tuesday, she was told her husband was dead.
When she went to the jail, she was told Naskar was admitted to Baruipur Sub-divisional Hospital. He had been in judicial custody following a court order. At the hospital, she allegedly found her husband lying on a bed with his hands and legs tied. Sonali alleged that neither the information about her husband’s hospitalisation nor the circumstances surrounding his death had been properly communicated to the family. Police have sent the body for post-mortem.
Naskar, a resident of Betberia in Baruipur, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly practising as a fake doctor and issuing forged death certificates in exchange for money. Sonali reportedly received a call from the police on Monday, informing her that her husband was unwell.
His wife, Sonali, alleged her husband was murdered and demanded an investigation.
