Sarmistha Bhowmik Roy, who is married to Mukul Roy’s son, has gone missing during a tour in Nepal
KOLKATA/KANCHRAPARA: The family of former Indian Railway Minister Mukul Roy is anxiously searching for his daughter-in-law, Sarmistha Bhowmik Roy, 43, who has been missing in Nepal since Wednesday following a devastating flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River along the Nepal-China border. She travelled to Nepal on August 21 as part of a tour organised by a travel agency, according to her family sources. “She last spoke to her husband on the night of August 25. She left for Nepal on August 21 with several members of her parental family.
Since then, the family has been unable to establish contact with her,” a relative of the Roy family said. Before leaving their Kanchrapara home for Nepal, Subhranshu Roy said he was deeply worried about his wife and other family members who had accompanied her. We are extremely anxious and hope the administration will take immediate steps,” he said.
She was travelling with members of her parental family. “Since receiving reports of the devastating natural disaster in Nepal, I have been unable to contact her. We have not been able to contact anyone, including my wife.
Sources said Subhranshu Roy rushed to Nepal on Wednesday evening to search for his wife and ascertain her whereabouts.
