Chandipur (East Midnapore): Hasirani Rath, the 65-year-old mother of Chandranath Rath — Suvendu Adhikari’s aide who was shot dead by bike-borne assailants late Wednesday night — alleged on Thursday that her son was killed as revenge for Adhikari’s performance against Mamata Banerjee in Bhowanipore.
His father had passed away recently, and family members said Chandranath made a point of spending time with his mother whenever work brought him to East Midnapore. Instead, his body returned — and the wedding was postponed.
