Kolkata: State govt will stop the exodus of young researchers and scientists from Bengal going abroad to pursue innovation, state industry and commerce minister Tapas Roy said at the rollout of Seva First Innovation Challenge – Eastern Zone at IIT Kharagpur Research Park, New Town, on Saturday.
During the event, Roy, state ministers Kalyan Chakraborti and Indranil Khan, and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya launched a portal for researchers from colleges and universities across Bengal to submit their innovative projects.
“The East zone round of the challenge aims for participation of young researchers from our state with their innovative ideas,” said Chakraborti, state IT and biotechnology minister. State sports and youth development minister Indranil Khan said, “We are trying to make the young generation self-reliant so that they will become job givers in the future and not remain job seekers always.” The portal will remain open till next month, with the challenge’s grand finale scheduled for Dec.
