BENGALURU: An 18-year-old diploma student was found dead at the hostel of the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) in Channarayapatna of Devanahalli taluk, 47 km from the city, on Monday morning. Johel attended college from 9am till 10.30am, according to police. They said he did not have any issues at home or outside. The deceased has been identified as Johel, a resident of Jayanagar in south Bengaluru. Johel was pursuing a diploma course at the GTTC. The student was found hanging inside his hostel room on the campus. After that, he returned to the hostel. His hostel mates, who returned during lunch hours around 1pm, found him hanging. On being informed about the incident, Channarayapatna police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Police did not find any suicide note. Johel was a silent student and was bright in his studies. The reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained. His parents also expressed shock over his death. The body was taken for post-mortem and handed over to the family. Channarayapatna police of Bengaluru district have registered an unnatural death report (UDR) in connection with the incident and are continuing their investigation.
