Udupi: A team of police officials from the Amasebailu and Shankaranarayana police stations have arrested two persons in connection with separate theft cases reported in Kundapur taluk and recovered Rs 1,19,720 in stolen cash.
A theft was reported from a house at Jamburu Jeddu, Nelligadde, in Machattu village on Sept 4, according to police. The occupants had left for factory work when unidentified persons allegedly broke open the front door lock between 2.30pm and 3.10pm. The burglars ransacked the rooms, opened a cupboard and allegedly stole Rs 97,000 kept wrapped in paper among clothes. Amasebailu police registered a case under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police team was also investigating a separate theft reported at Sri Jaladurga Parameshwari Temple at Mundukodu in Kullunje village, where the hundi was allegedly broken open and Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 stolen. Shankaranarayana police had registered a case under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the BNS. Acting on the leads gathered during the investigation, police traced and arrested Rakesh H,28, of Ettenahalli, Punedahalli village, Shikaripura taluk, Shivamogga district, and Nandish M,24, of Kalekere, Jakkenahalli village, Shikaripura taluk, Shivamogga district, near Hulikal Ghat. Police said Rs 1,19,720 in cash allegedly linked to the thefts was recovered from the accused.
They were produced before a court.
