Bengaluru: A skull spotted among garbage and a gunny bag containing skeletal remains nearby triggered panic near Gundanjaneya Temple Park, a GBA facility in Kodigehalli, Friday. Police suspect the victim, a woman, was murdered elsewhere and her remains were shifted and dumped at the spot.
A senior police officer said they were alerted around 12.30pm and found the skull and skeletal remains lying separately. The discovery came to light when a passerby noticed the skull in garbage dumped along the park’s fencing. On checking further, the person spotted the gunny bag nearby containing the remaining skeletal parts. The skull reportedly had some hair, but no other identifiable belongings were found at the spot.
Since it appears to have been shifted at least 10 days after the initial disposal, people may not have noticed any foul smell,” a senior officer said. “The autopsy report will reveal more details,” the officer added. “We suspect the body was disposed of elsewhere and later shifted to this location, making it the second dumping spot. Cops are yet to ascertain whether the woman’s head was severed and packed separately in the gunny bag or whether it was detached from the skeletal remains by dogs. Download the TOI App.
