A surprise inspection at MIMS Hospital revealed alleged violations concerning an undertrial’s treatment
During the inspection, the team found Mahamad Hussain, an ADLR survey supervisor currently in judicial custody, undergoing treatment in a separate room at MIMS Hospital since August 21 without court permission, according to a release issued by the information department.
MIMS superintendent Dr Shivakumar reportedly told the inspection team that Hussain was not suffering from any serious medical condition. However, the jail superintendent said Hussain had been admitted to the hospital on the recommendation of the prison medical officer. A woman was also found in the room with him. The inspection team directed the jail superintendent that, henceforth, an accused or undertrial should be shifted to hospital only after obtaining permission from the court.
MANDYA: A surprise inspection at MIMS Hospital by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) and Mandya District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Monday uncovered alleged violations in the treatment and custody arrangements of an undertrial accused.
