Udupi: Udupi police have initiated action against erring police officers in connection with the case pertaining to the death of Pradeep Poojary , who allegedly died by suicide in the toilet of Govt District Hospital at Ajjarkad.
Poojary died by suicide on Oct 30.
SP Hariram Shankar said that based on an inquiry report by the ASP, a report was sent to the DIG western range. The SP said that two staff who were on guard duty at the hospital have been suspended based on a report of PI of women’s police station for negligence during duty hours. The SP said disciplinary action was initiated against the PSI for failing to register an FIR regarding the incident.
The PSI of Hiriyadka has been attached to the DIG western range office and disciplinary action has been initiated. Disciplinary action against them will follow, he added. An inquiry has been entrusted to the ASP. Following Poojary’s alleged suicide at the Ajjarkad hospital, police registered a case of abetment to suicide.
