Vijayendra Visited Protest Site, Received A Memorandum Outlining Farmers’ Grievances
The farmers said thousands of acres acquired over 15 years ago for industrial projects remain unused as factories were never established.
Addressing party workers, former minister Suresh Kumar alleged that the state govt has treated Dalits unfairly and said the padayatra was highlighting the failures of the Congress govt. Ballari : BJP workers led by former MLA G. Reddy accused the Congress govt of misusing the district administration to obstruct the padayatra. They alleged that KIADB is attempting to transfer the land to a steel factory and demanded that the govt either ensure justice to land-loser families or return their land. Chalavadi Narayanaswamy claimed attempts to curb the march had failed and that it had evolved into a statewide campaign. He also demanded recovery of the money involved in the Valmiki Development Corporation scam.
Earlier in the day, BJP state president BY Vijayendra visited the protest site of land-loser farmers at Kudutini and received a memorandum outlining their grievances. Somashekara Reddy staged a protest on Hosapete Road on the outskirts of Ballari on Wednesday against restrictions on installing party flags and banners ahead of the Ballari Chalo padayatra entering the city.
