Kalaburagi : Home minister and Kalaburagi district in charge Priyank Kharge on Tuesday appealed to the public, youth, students and families to actively participate in the two-day Kalyana Karnataka Utsava 2026 to be held across various venues in the city on Sept 16 and 17.

The celebrations will begin on Sept 16 with cultural programmes at Public Garden, featuring performances by local artistes, classical dancers and musicians.

Addressing reporters, Kharge said the 79th Kalyana Karnataka Utsava has been planned as a people’s festival to showcase the region’s history, culture, art, heritage and local talent. Chief minister D.K. Shivakumar will inaugurate the street festival and later attend events at Appa Lake, including the inauguration of lake development works, a 3D light show and a drone show.

On Sept 17, the chief minister will hoist the national flag at the Police Parade Ground to mark Kalyana Karnataka Liberation Day. Cultural programmes, live painting demonstrations, stand-up comedy shows, music concerts and dance performances have also been scheduled at various venues.
