BENGALURU: Four people, including a Bengaluru police inspector, were killed and 11 others injured after a passenger bus overturned and crashed into a 30-foot-high bridge on the Bhopal bypass in Biaora city of Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district on Friday morning. The impact threw around four passengers from the bus, causing them to fall onto the service road about 30 feet below. The bus lost control and collided with the bridge on the Bhopal bypass, according to police.
Among those killed was Inspector Ravi KV, who was part of a Bengaluru Cyber Crime team travelling to Madhya Pradesh in search of an accused, Additional SP KL Banjare said. The bus was travelling from Bengaluru to Indore when the accident occurred.
Family travelling to Ujjain
Amit Kumar Pratap said he was travelling with his wife Meenu Singh, 13-year-old son Rakshit Singh and father-in-law Surendra Pratap Singh to Ujjain for Mahakaleshwar temple darshan. A family from Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur was among those travelling on the bus. Several other passengers from Uttar Pradesh were also injured in the accident.
Three members of the Bengaluru Cyber Crime team were injured in the accident. They were identified as Sub-Inspector Ramesh Naik, ASI Srinivas and technical staff member Vishwanath. Srinivas was referred to another hospital in critical condition.
