An 18-year-old daily-wage labourer was killed after unidentified miscreants picked a quarrel

Bengaluru: An 18-year-old daily-wage labourer was killed after unidentified miscreants picked a quarrel with him and allegedly dropped a heavy stone on his head while he was sleeping by the roadside in KJ Halli.

A 35-year-old truck cleaner has been arrested for allegedly killing a truck driver in Mallathahalli on Sept 5 in a drunken brawl. He had allegedly beaten Ganesh Kumar Yadav, 40, a native of Uttar Pradesh, to death with a nail-studded piece of plywood following a dispute over loading goods onto the truck from a BWSSB worksite.

Mahesh was sleeping in Kushan Nagar around 11pm Monday when the miscreants approached him and picked a quarrel, according to police. Kanchan has confessed to the crime, police said. The deceased has been identified as Mahesh , a welder, who used to sleep in different public places after finishing his day’s work. During the confrontation, they allegedly bludgeoned his head with a stone, killing him on the spot before fleeing. Around 6am Tuesday, passersby spotted Mahesh’s body and alerted the cops. KJ Halli police rushed to the spot, inspected the scene and registered a case. Police are trying to identify the assailants using CCTV footage from nearby roads. The accused, Bhimesh Prajapati alias Kanchan, was nabbed from Mumbai in Maharashtra.
