Kalaburagi : Artist and photographer Mohammed Ayazuddin Patel of Kalaburagi has been invited to participate in the International Collaborative Art Exhibition and Sculpture Workshop in Venice, Italy, from Sept 17 to 20.
The event will bring together 11 artists from Karnataka, Assam, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Baroda, along with artists from Europe. In addition to the workshop, the delegation will undertake a 15-day study tour from Sept 9 to 23, covering France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Vatican City. A resource person specialising in the art, architecture and history of the Deccan dynasties, Patel received the National Lalit Kala Award in 2014, the CCRT National Fellowship from the ministry of culture for 2016-17, and a senior fellowship from the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy in 2018.

Patel said the initiative aims to strengthen ties between Indian and European art communities through dialogue, collaborative sessions and discussions on diverse artistic perspectives. The three-day workshop, titled ‘Art Beyond Borders: Creative Dialogue Between India and Italy’, will be held at HU Venezia Camping in Town under the joint aegis of the SMD Foundation and HU Venezia. The programme is intended to promote creativity, friendship and cultural exchange, he added. The tour includes visits to museums, historical monuments and art galleries featuring works by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt and Pablo Picasso. Patel is scheduled to visit the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Sistine Chapel Museum in Vatican City, the Accademia Gallery in Florence and the Colosseum in Rome. He has also established an art gallery, museum and research centre. Download the TOI App.
Patel has previously travelled to the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, China, Kenya, Hong Kong, Macau, Egypt, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan, among other countries.
