Haveri: Extensive security arrangements have been made across Haveri district for Ganeshotsav, with police deploying additional personnel and enforcing strict regulations to ensure peaceful celebrations, Superintendent of Police Yashoda Vantagodi said on Sunday.
A total of 460 HSPC personnel, 400 home guards, nine DAR units and four KSRP platoons have been deployed across the district. Police have identified 21 highly sensitive Ganapati locations and are closely monitoring another 350 sensitive spots. Vantagodi said DJs have been banned across the district, while loudspeakers will not be permitted after 10 pm. Permission has been granted for 2,315 public Ganesha idol installations, with eight designated immersion points.

Addressing a news conference, the SP said police have conducted peace meetings with leaders of various communities and urged Ganapati organisers to ensure that processions and immersion ceremonies are held without incident. As immersion activities will continue for nearly a month, a detailed security plan has been put in place. Reflective jackets have been issued to personnel on procession duty to improve visibility and coordination. Meetings have also been held with banner and flex printers to prevent the display of provocative material. She appealed to citizens to celebrate the festival with peace, discipline and harmony.
