Hubballi : A delegation led by Mahendra Singhi, a member of the Prime Minister’s 15-Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities Committee, met Dharwad MP and Union minister Pralhad Joshi on Saturday and submitted a memorandum seeking measures to further strengthen air connectivity in North Karnataka.
At present, the lack of direct air connectivity to these destinations forces passengers to travel via other cities, resulting in increased travel time and expenses,” the delegation said. “In this context, the introduction of direct flights to major cities would greatly benefit passengers,” he said. The delegation primarily urged the Union minister to initiate direct flight services from Hubballi to Ahmedabad, Jodhpur and Varanasi. “Thousands of people from North Karnataka have business, industrial, social, religious and family ties with Gujarat, Rajasthan and other major cities across the country. Singhi noted that Hubballi Airport is emerging as a major aviation hub for North Karnataka. The delegation also drew the Union minister’s attention to the delayed availability of textbooks for various CBSE classes. “Timely access to textbooks is essential for students to carry out their academic activities smoothly. Among those present were Gautam Golechha, president of Mahaveer Limb Centre; Abhay Sooji of the Lions Club of Hubballi Family; Subhash Chandra Dunk, state secretary of the Pravasi Travellers Association Karnataka; and other representatives.
