BJP MLA criticises fare panel, seeks CM's resignation over bus fare hike

BJP MLA M Chandrappa

He said the govt had increased fares by 23% in KSRTC and 35% in Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), while claiming the move was aimed at protecting passengers’ interests and reducing losses.

The hike had imposed an additional financial burden on poor and middle-class families, he said. In just six years, the Congress govt had pushed transport corporations into financial distress and was now resorting to an unprecedented fare increase to tide over the crisis, he alleged. Demanding an immediate rollback of the fare hike, Chandrappa urged the chief minister and transport minister to resign, taking moral responsibility for the decision. BJP district president KT Kumaraswamy, general secretary Venkatesh Yadav and district spokesperson Nagaraj Bedre were present.

Chitradurga : Accusing the Congress govt of pushing the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation ( KSRTC ) into financial distress through its guarantee schemes, BJP MLA and former KSRTC chairperson M Chandrappa on Thursday demanded the resignation of the chief minister and transport minister over the recent bus fare hike.
