The first cannon firing drill to acclimatise the Dasara jumbos and mounted police horses to the deafening sound of cannon shots was held in Mysuru on Wednesday
All the thirteen Dasara jumbos and 43 horses of Mounted Police took part in the cannon drill. From seven cannons 21 cannon shots were fired for three rounds during the event. Authorities will conduct the remaining two cannon firing rehearsals on Oct 9 and 12.

During the drill, Dasara jumbos and horses remained calm and responded successfully without causing any disturbance. Initially, Dasara elephant Srirama was disturbed but adjusted later. CCF (Mysuru circle) SS Ravishankar, DCF (wildlife) IB Prabhugouda, police chief Seema Latkar and DCP CAR Siddanagowda Patil were present. Download the TOI App.
