Speaking after inaugurating the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 122nd birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chandrashekhar said commemorating great leaders should not be confined to offering flowers to their portraits. Shastri’s decision to resign as Railway minister, accepting moral responsibility following a train accident, was an example of accountability in public life, he said.
