The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Mangaluru : KPCC campaign committee vice-president and state spokesperson Sudhir Kumar Murolli on Tuesday demanded that Election Commission register suo motu criminal cases against people submitting bulk Form 7 applications to illegally remove eligible citizens from electoral rolls.

Murolli told reporters in Mangaluru that obstructing electoral roll preparation and revision and submitting false information were illegal offences. “Upon a thorough examination of the form 7 applications being submitted, it is clear that all applicants are specifically BJP workers or leaders affiliated with the Sangh Parivar,” Murolli said. “For instance, in a single taluk, a BJP mandal president submitted 243 applications in bulk,” he said.

He urged Election Commission not to await complaints from Congress or the public, but direct all tahsildars and district election officers to register cases against those filing bulk deletion requests. He alleged a systematic attempt to delete voters belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs and minority communities from electoral rolls.
