Hubballi : Heavy rain across parts of north Karnataka disrupted normal life in several districts, while four people trapped in a stream in Gadag were rescued by villagers on Tuesday night.
Rainwater also overflowed onto the Hubballi-Solapur National Highway (NH-218) near Govanakoppa village, affecting traffic movement. In Dharwad district, Hubballi witnessed heavy rain for around 30 minutes on Wednesday, throwing normal life out of gear. Hearing the occupants’ cries for help, villagers launched a rescue operation, using motorcycle headlights and other equipment to locate and pull all four people to safety. The incident occurred between Neeralagi and Nagaral villages in Gadag taluk when a car was swept into a stream. In Bagalkot district, Badami received heavy rain for about an hour, filling the Agastya Tirth lake to the brim. Several villages, including Kulageri, Kallapur SK, Tappaskatti, Neeratalakeri, Haligeri and Neelagund, also recorded steady rainfall. The rains boosted inflows into the Malaprabha river as the Benni Halla catchment area in Guledgudda taluk received continuous showers. Download the TOI App.
