Infant rescued after being left in thorny fence

Gadag : A newborn baby boy with the umbilical cord still attached was found abandoned in a thorny bush at Chikkoppa village in Gadag taluk on Wednesday morning.

Betageri police have launched an investigation to trace those responsible for leaving the newborn in such a condition. Stay updated with the latest Hubballi news.

Further investigation is underway, police said. Villagers who heard the baby crying rushed to the spot and rescued him. They were distressed to find the newborn lying among the thorns with the umbilical cord still attached. The villagers immediately alerted the police and health officials. The baby was later shifted by ambulance to the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital, where doctors are providing the necessary treatment and care. The infant, believed to have been born only a short while earlier, was discovered in a thorny fence near a govt school.
