Bengaluru: Drawing flak from environmentalists and park lovers over the proposed tunnel road project that cuts through Lalbagh, the Karnataka govt is contemplating changing the alignment to avoid any damage to the three-billion-year-old Peninsular Gneiss.
The govt had earlier proposed to acquire 5 acres of land for the 16.7-km-long tunnel road project costing Rs 16,980 crore. The GBA meeting cleared 11 proposals, including Rs 450 crore infrastructure development project for Outer Ring Road and white-topping-related projects. The issue came up for discussion during Greater Bengaluru Authority’s second meeting presided by CM DK Shivakumar and Bengaluru development minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Thursday evening.
