The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Koppal : Police have arrested Anil Kumar , brother of the prime accused in the alleged Rs 8.4-crore Koppal Urban Development Authority (Kuda) scam, in Bengaluru as the investigation gathers pace. Superintendent of police Ram L Arasiddhi said more than Rs 3.5 crore has already been seized and efforts are under way to arrest the prime accused soon. Irregularities involved layout fees and CA site funds routed through HDFC Bank accounts opened in 2023, according to him.

Police said Anil Kumar was taken into custody after investigations revealed that funds from Kuda accounts had allegedly been transferred to his account.

Kuda commissioner Sharanappa Chavan said the misappropriated funds belonged to the authority and not the beneficiaries. The main accused, Ravindrakumar, an outsourced employee who worked as an accountant with Kuda, is alleged to have misappropriated public funds and forged the signature of the then commissioner. He remains absconding. A special team has been formed to trace Ravindrakumar. He also suspected the involvement of bank officials.
