Mandya: A 15-year-old boy was found dead in a village lake at Mayappanahalli in Mandya district, with his family suspecting foul play.

Family members claimed that the friend initially denied knowing Deepak’s whereabouts, despite Deepak’s grandmother reportedly seeing the two boys heading towards the lake together. They have urged police to conduct a thorough investigation. Following the incident, members of the Vishwakarma community staged a protest outside the mortuary at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, demanding action against those responsible and compensation for the family. The deceased, Deepak , son of Raju and Jyothi, had gone out to play with a minor friend on Monday and did not return home. His body was recovered from the lake on Tuesday evening with injury marks, police said.
