Mysuru: Finally, the state govt has given consent to celebrate Chamarajanagar Dasara celebrations, which will be held from Oct 17 to 19. It has released Rs 2 crore for the celebrations.

CM gave his consent on Thursday and also released Rs 2 crore to conduct the festivities.

Speaking to TOI, Chamarajanagar district minister CS Puttarangashetty said that he prevailed upon chief minister DK Shivakumar to release funds for Chamarajanagar Dasara festivities. With just five days left for the event to start, he said that he gave directions to deputy commissioner Srirupa to expedite the process to conduct the festivities. “Helicopter joy rides along with other events will be the main attraction this year,” he said. Additional deputy commissioner T Javaregowda said that the district administration has started preparations.

Folk artist Shivashankar Chattu thanked govt for giving its nod to celebrate Chamarajanagar Dasara, which will provide an opportunity for local folk artists to perform and also boost tourism.

Meanwhile, the district administration has decided to hold cultural events, an exhibition and a flower show, besides hosting Raitha-Grameena Dasara and Mahila Dasara. It will also host a procession of folk troupes to showcase Chamarajanagar which is known for its rich folk arts.
