Yathindra Siddaramaiah
The protesters, who gathered near Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple, held placards supporting the royal family. They urged the minister to apologise to the family, calling his statements insensitive. Recalling the contribution of the royal family to the country, they stated that Congress govt is unnecessarily targeting the family.
Mysuru : Hundreds of city residents, mostly BJP and JD(S) activists, staged a protest in the city on Thursday condemning the statement of district minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah about the Mysuru royal family.
During the 2006 Chamundeshwari byelection, Congress invited then MP Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar to campaign for Siddaramaiah. Had he not campaigned for Siddaramaiah, the Congress candidate would have lost by a large margin and never would have become CM later. Meanwhile, former minister AH Vishwanath condemned Yathindra’s statement. Speaking to reporters, he alleged that like his father and former CM Siddaramaiah , Yathindra too is following an anti-palace policy. He advised Yathindra to read the history before speaking. But Siddaramaiah has not even spoken good words about Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, he contended.
