He said that he had received pleas from a large number of maize growers in Mysuru district who suffered losses due to pest disease in maize crop this year.
The district administration must ensure all drought relief benefits to the affected people, he said. Chairing a meeting at the zilla panchayat, he gave directions to the deputy commissioner to submit a fresh proposal before govt seeking relief for maize growers affected by pest diseases. As the state govt declared all eight taluks of Mysuru district drought-hit, he wanted the district administration to conduct a joint survey of crop loss after visiting the affected agricultural fields and submit a detailed project report to govt for urgent release of compensation to the farmers affected by drought.
Mysuru : Union minister of steel and heavy industries HD Kumaraswamy on Friday directed officials to ensure that the central crop insurance reaches all eligible farmers without any administrative delays.
Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar wanted the NHAI and district administration to complete the ongoing road widening of National Highway 275 (connecting Kushalnagar) by the deadline. DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy said district administration has successfully cleared 5 lakh tonnes of garbage and construction debris after launching the drive in the city, and the process of clearing the pending two lakh tonnes in the city is on. Joint director of agriculture KH Ravi said Mysuru district has a 56% scarcity of rain. Against the target of 3.8 lakh hectares, crops were sown in 1.6 lakh hectares. A total of 22,845 farmers were covered under crop insurance in the district, he said.
Zilla panchayat CEO S Ukeshkumar said that Mysuru ZP has initiated VB Gram works since June, and also provided jobs to registered job card holders. He also asked officials to maintain quality in the flyover construction work near Manipal Hospital junction on the Mysuru-Bengaluru road.
