There had been a few stabbing incidents reported during Ganesha festival in the city. Hubballi: Police department has formed an anti-stabbing squad to ensure no-knives-safer-streets concept. Localites were worried over the increasing stabbing incidents in the city. A recent murder case in broad daylight, over an old enmity, has sent shock waves among the citizens.

Sources said that it has become a trend among people associated with gangs to carry lethal weapons like swords, knives, blades and other sharp objects in their vehicles. Speaking to TOI, Bhushan G Borase, police commissioner, said, “There have been complaints that some people are carrying weapons, creating fear among the common man, and there were stabbings in the city over trivial issues. Some people also display weapons on their birthdays. To put an end to all such activities, city police department has formed anti-stabbing squad. We have set up an anti-stabbing squad in each police station in Hubballi-Dharwad.
