Belagavi : Ramakrishna Mission Ashram will mark the 134 th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ’s visit to Belagavi with a special programme, ‘Vivek Agam’, at Swami Vivekananda Memorial in Risaldar Galli on Friday. Mahaprasad will be served from 1pm to 3pm, followed by bhajans and spiritual discourses from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Swami Vivekananda stayed in Belagavi from Oct 16 to 27, 1892.
Swami Veereshananda Maharaj of Ramakrishna Math, Bengaluru, will deliver a discourse in Kannada on ‘Swami Vivekananda’s Powerful Message’. Swami Buddhananda Maharaj, president of Ramakrishna Math, Kolhapur, will speak in Marathi on ‘Swami Vivekananda’s Message for the Modern Era’. He initially stayed at Sadashiv Bhate’s residence in Risaldar Galli before moving to the Fort area residence of Haripad Mitra, then divisional forest officer. His first residence has since been converted into a memorial, preserving the room and cot he used and several personal belongings associated with his stay.
