Bengaluru: A 32-year-old woman working as an associate vice-president at a private firm in Whitefield has filed a complaint against a man she met through a matrimonial app in 2020, alleging that he repeatedly harassed her, threatened to kill her and posted sexually abusive comments about her on Instagram.
She also accused him of sending her a death threat, following which she approached Marathahalli police in 2021, and lodged a complaint.
She told police that he approached her parents in her native place, posing as a stranger, and attempted to discuss her with them. But, the harassment continued. She filed another complaint recently at Annapoorneshwari Nagar police, stating he had begun posting abusive, obscene and sexually derogatory comments about her photographs and videos using two Instagram accounts.
The remarks were false and had caused her severe humiliation and defamation, with her family, friends, relatives, neighbours and others able to view the comments, according to her.
A case has been registered under BNS Section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and an investigation is under way, a senior police officer said.
