There are 11 extremely dangerous curves in the Charmadi Ghat region of Mudigere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district. To help motorists see vehicles coming from the opposite direction at blind curves, convex safety mirrors were installed with the help of Dharmasthala Multi Speciality Hospital. After installation, the number of accidents in the ghat section had come down drastically, as riders could see oncoming vehicles in advance. However, some miscreants and drunkards are vandalising public property and stealing the mirrors installed to prevent accidents. Locals allege that they are taking away the mirrors that save lives.
