Tech glitches hit A to B khata upgrade

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru: Thousands of property owners waiting to upgrade from B-khata to A-khata within Greater Bengaluru Authority limits are stuck, with portal glitches and faulty document uploads holding up their applications for more than 10 days now.

The delay follows the Sept 22 launch of upgraded e-Aasthi 2.0 software, meant to simplify khata services, cut paperwork and reduce visits to govt offices. Then deputy CM DK Shivakumar had announced the Namma Khate Namma Hakku campaign, with a 100-day window that ended on Aug 23 and it was subsequently extended. The govt cut the conversion fee from 5% to 2% of guidance value for applications filed by that date. It has since returned to 5%.

Many said sales and registrations had stalled, while some claimed their applications were rejected despite repeated online attempts. There’s no clear indication of how soon the system will be restored, sources said. GBA officials said minor glitches in the early days had been fixed and maintained there were no major problems with the software, but complaints continued. Greater Bengaluru development minister Krishna Byre Gowda told TOI officials found some owners had uploaded blank files, wrong property photographs or incorrect locations. “I’ve instructed officials to hold special adalats and clear pending applications soon,” he added.

Without A-khata, owners struggle to access civic services, complete property transactions or get bank loans. Citizens soon complained of trouble uploading documents.
