Accused – Hariharan
Bengaluru: Madiwala police have arrested a 20-year-old thief who was involved in a series of thefts from paying guest accommodation and recovered three laptops, four mobile phones and a two-wheeler worth around Rs 3.3 lakh in total. A PG resident in Madiwala had lodged a complaint on Sept 17, reporting that five laptops and a mobile phone had been stolen from the PG and another PG where his friend was staying. The thefts had reportedly occurred between 3am and 7.30am. Police apprehended Hariharan near Bommasandra bus stand on Sept 22.
The arrested person has been identified as Hariharan from Tamil Nadu. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had concealed the stolen electronic items and a two-wheeler near a drain in Dollars Scheme Colony in BTM Layout. With his arrest, police have solved three theft cases, including two cases registered at Madiwala police station and one at Jigani. Hariharan has been remanded in judicial custody. He confessed that he sneaks into rooms in PG accommodation where the doors are not latched from inside to steal and disposes of the stolen valuables in Tamil Nadu.
He was earlier involved in two similar theft cases in Mico Layout and Govindapura.
