Worm in egg sets off food safety check at Mangaluru quick-commerce hub

MANGALURU: A complaint about a worm allegedly found inside an egg delivered to a consumer has prompted food safety officials to inspect a quick-commerce facility in the city and temporarily seal its storage room. The consumer had approached health minister U T Khader, alleging that some of the eggs purchased through an online delivery platform were damaged and that a worm was found inside one of them. They found packets containing broken eggs at the facility and directed the personnel concerned to remove and dispose of them immediately. The department will issue a notice to the establishment seeking an explanation for the incident. Download the TOI App.

Acting on the complaint, food safety officials inspected the online retail facility at Falnir Square in Falnir area on Thursday.
