Koppal : A young man in Kavali village landed in trouble after allegedly using AI to create a fake image of a tiger on a hill near his farm, and uploading it on social media, triggering panic among locals. The youth, identified as Eranna Honnuunchi, created the image to avoid going to the farm after his family asked him to work.

Concerned, his family told him not to go to the fields. He used a photograph of a hill near the farm and edited it with AI to make it appear as though a tiger was sitting on the hill. Eranna then showed the AI-generated image to his family and claimed that a tiger had appeared near the farm. However, Eranna went a step further and uploaded the image on social media. The photograph triggered concern among villagers, who alerted the forest officials. Upon examining the image, the officials realised that the image had been generated using AI. They subsequently traced Eranna and took him to the same hill shown in the image. The officials made him explain on camera how he had created and misused the AI-generated image. Download the TOI App.
