Kolhapur : A 45-year-old farmer from Kolik village in Panhala tehsil was injured after being attacked by a gaur on Sunday evening.

The farmer, identified as Ananda Kondiba Patil (45), had gone to his field to feed fodder to his cattle when the animal attacked him. Range forest officer Ajit Mali said, “The health of the farmer is stable and he is recovering. Patil was gravely injured when the wild gaur thrust its horn into his stomach. After the incident, the local youth immediately took him to the primary health centre in Bazarbhogaon, and he was later shifted to CPR Hospital in Kolhapur for further treatment via an ambulance. Meanwhile, forest department’s range forest officer Ajit Mali, Manwad Circle forest officer Rupali Buchade and forest guard Ramesh Patil went to CPR Hospital and checked on the farmer’s health. A panchnama of the incident has been conducted. Farmers are appealed to stay vigilant while working in the farms. Download the TOI App.
