NASHIK: Around 140 people fell ill in Malegaon taluka of Nashik district on Monday after eating ‘bhel’, a spicy snack made of puffed rice, an official said. The official further noted that the 140 persons include small children and women. The affected people had eaten bhel from a shop at the weekly market in Nandgaon Budruk village, news agency PTI reported. Reportedly, the victims are from Chinchawad, Gunjalwadi, Dongargaon and Nandgaon Budruk villages, PTI reported. Maharashtra school education minister Dada Bhuse, who visited the hospital, said an inquiry would be conducted into the incident and action would be taken against those responsible. “The condition of those hospitalised is stable,” he said. “They complained of giddiness, stomach ache, loose motions and vomiting. Those affected were taken to Malegaon general hospital,” an official added. Download the TOI App.
