MUMBAI: Kurar Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for the murder of an acquaintance following a trivial dispute at Kandivali East. Police said the deceased, Shrikant Jadhav, 35, was drinking with friends and acquaintances at Gokul Nagar in Kandivali East on Sept 19 when the incident occurred. On Sept 19, Jadhav had met his friend, Vishnu Vishwakarma, for a drink at Golul Nagar. Around 2.30 am, while Jadhav slept, Sawant stabbed him with a knife on the left side of his chest.

Police said Jadhav mocked Sawant who was infuriated. Police registered a complaint based on a statement given by Jadhav’s brother, Dilip. They were joined by their acquaintances, Sunil, and Chetan Sawant. Yadav bled severely and was subsequently pronounced dead. Kurar Police registered a case of murder the same day and arrested Sawant.
