Bombay HC’s Kolhapur bench
The petition stated that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections on at least 14 occasions concerning various decisions and administrative processes of Election Commission. The petition also challenges changes made to Form-6 in July 2026.
The objections relate to voter registration, deletion and restoration of voters’ names, the electoral roll database, the functioning of Electoral Registration Officers, and software-related processes, according to the petitioners. Kolhapur: The Kolhapur bench of Bombay high court declined to grant an urgent hearing to a petition that has questioned certain decisions and administrative processes undertaken under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, which were brought to the fore by a newspaper report. It impleaded as respondents the Election Commission of India, New Delhi; Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar; Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi; and State Election Commission as respondents.
Asim Sarode, advocate for petitioners — Ratnagiri residents Prathamesh Gavankar and others — mentioned the matter before the bench of Justices Sharmila Deshmukh and Neeraj Dhote on Monday, and sought an urgent hearing, saying that the issue involved the rights of voters and the transparency in the process of enlisting voters and alleged breach of statutory provisions by the Election commission of India .
