Cop dies by suicide at Navi Mumbai lodge, names ex-DCP, ACP and head clerk in note alleging

NAVI MUMBAI: A 55-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Navi Mumbai Police allegedly died by suicide at a lodge in Airoli on Saturday evening. In the video, he alleged that he was compelled to end his life due to harassment by a former DCP, an ACP, and a head clerk. The deceased, identified as Pandurang Nimba Patil, a resident of Airoli, had recorded a video before taking the drastic step and posted it on social media. ASI Patil also left behind a nine-page suicide note accusing former DCP (Headquarters) Sanjay Patil, ACP Girish Thakare, and administrative head clerk Jayu Ahire of driving him to take the extreme step by allegedly harassing him while assigning official duties.

ACP (Rabale Division) Rahul Dhas said, “ASI Patil had checked into Sachi Lodging and Boarding on Saturday at 4.40 pm. Around 7.30 pm, when the housekeeping staff went to his room, he did not respond, and the door was locked from inside. Stay updated with the latest Navi Mumbai news.

The lodge manager opened the door with a master key and found ASI Patil hanging from a ceiling fan hook. The lodge manager informed the Rabale MIDC police. ASI Patil was rushed to NMMC Hospital in Vashi, where he was declared brought dead. Prima facie, an accidental death case will be registered at the Rabale MIDC police station. Download the TOI App.
