Kolhapur: Deputy CM and Shiv Sena ’s chief leader Eknath Shinde said that Shiv Sena is going to contest the Pune division teachers’ constituency MLC seat and Mangesh Chivate will be the party’s official candidate. Shinde was speaking in New Delhi to reporters on Monday.

The party has given the AB form to Chivate who toured five districts from the division multiple times and declared his candidature on various forums. BJP has nominated Kaustubh Gavde, chief executive officer of Kolhapur’s Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, for the teachers’ constituency. “The discussion was held between CM Devendra Fadnavis , deputy CM Sunetra Pawar and me. Satej Patil , Congress MLC, has slammed BJP for fielding his niece Smita Jadhav for the Pune division graduates’ constituency. “Breaking others’ houses is BJP’s agenda. It will not work. Congress has given candidate for teachers constituency. NCP(SP) will nominate candidate for graduates constituency. I will stick to my party’s agenda and strongly support MVA’s candidates. Tuesday is the last day for filing of the nominations for the MLC polls. NCP(SP) did not announce its candidate by Monday night. It can be one of the two Mahayuti rebels, Pratap alias Bhaiya Mane and ex-bureaucrat Prabhakar Deshmukh’s daughter Harshada Deshmukh Jadhav.
Shinde’s remarks have come as a surprise since BJP declared candidates and got their nominations filed on Monday.
