Mumbai: In an attempt to curb unqualified medical practitioners, the Maharashtra Medical Council has once again sent a reminder to all doctors to follow a govt order and display a ‘Know Your Doctor’ (KYD) QR code plate at every place of practice.
Doctors must complete enrolment on the KYD portal (www.kyd.co.in) and mount the plates in their waiting areas on or before Oct 31. First-time defaulters will receive a warning letter with a 15-day grace period; subsequent violations will attract fines of Rs 5,000 for a second offence and Rs 15,000 for a third, after which further disciplinary action will follow. They said the directive follows a govt order issued in Nov last year. Digital screenshots or paper printouts will not be accepted, MMC said. MMC officials said failure to do so would result in fines upon complaints, with no routine field inspections.
The KYD system allows patients to instantly scan the QR code and verify a practitioner’s registration status. Under the new rules, RMPs must procure separate official physical plates for each clinic, hospital or nursing home where they consult. Healthcare institutions are also required to ensure all visiting doctors comply. Download the TOI App.
