Dispute over 'qawwali' seats leads to murder of Sena councillor, NCP worker in Buldhana dist

Deulgaon Raja police station inspector Brahma Giri confirmed that 20 people had been arrested in connection with the two cases. The incident took place around 7.30pm on Monday (Oct 5) near the road close to Bholeshah Dargah in Pratap Nagar, Deulgaon Raja, according to police.

He said police teams were continuing their search for the remaining accused. The confrontation reportedly originated during a qawwali event when an argument broke out over children sitting at the venue, according to local information. Police have registered cross-cases of murder and other serious offences against members of both groups. The two groups allegedly attacked each other with knives, axes, sticks and iron rods. By Monday evening, members of the two groups reportedly came face to face near the police station area, where the dispute escalated into an armed confrontation leading to the murders of Ali and Pathan. Separate teams from Deulgaon Raja police station and Local Crime Branch, Buldhana, have been formed to trace the accused. Buldhana superintendent of police Nilesh Tambe visited the spot following the incident.

Buldhana: A dispute that reportedly began over seating arrangements for children at a qawwali event in Deulgaon Raja turned into a violent clash between two groups on Monday night, leaving two people dead and seven others injured.
